Light Positioning

Light Positioning is the implementation of Indoor Positioning System through the use of Light Communication. Our solution offers real time 3D pointing with potentially up to 1mm accuracy.

Light Positioning (LP) is the implementation of Indoor Positioning System (IPS) through the use of Light Communication (LC).

AASA’s LP solution takes advantage of LED lights including Visible Light Positioning ( and Infrared Positioning. The solutions uses smart phone cameras, offering real time 3D orientational positioning with accuracy of +/- 2 cm (+/- 3 inches) linear and +/- 3 degrees orientation.

Light positioning has a wide area of applications, including:

  • Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV)
  • Indoor Autonomous Vehicles and Lift Truck
  • Location-based advertisement and messaging
  • Can be customized to other indoor positioning applications

  • Navigation for the Visually Impaired
  • In-door Robots and Drones
  • Virtual/Augmented Reality (VR/AR) and Gaming
  • Asset Tracking/Management

  • Airports
  • Museums
  • Retails
  • Exhibitions

The LP solution that AASA offers, employs hybrid technology, operates even when there is no line of sight, and it operates with regular smartphones cameras with no additional hardware. AASA’s LP solution has been demonstrated on various smartphones, tablets, raspberry Pi and, industrial camera devices.
